A Rice Cooker At Last

I finally got myself a rice cooker. It was a late Christmas present from my husband. He actually got me something different originally but it didn’t work as I hoped so he returned it for me. Just recently did I decide this is what I wanted to get after returning what he got me.

I was so excited when it was delivered tonight! And it was perfect timing because I was making dinner and needed to make rice. I immediately had hubby open it and set it up for me.

I’ve been wanting one that has a hinged sealed lid and have looked longingly at the Japanese brand rice cookers at the Asian grocery store every time I shop there. But alas, they were always out of reach because the cheapest one there was $150!

A few months back, I was watching America’s Test Kitchen one weekend and they were testing rice cookers and rated a Sanyo brand to be the best. It was over $60 through some unknown online store when I searched for it last week. I ended up going to Overstock.com and got a refurbished Wolfgang Puck brand rice cooker for only $35 and shipping was only $.99! This one had great reviews so I went for it. And because I used Big Crumbs, (they had the highest percent cashback out of the sites I use) I’ll get 6.3% cashback on this purchase!

Amazing isn’t it; the things that get us women excited. We eat a lot of rice so we definitely needed this. It cooked 3 cups of rice in 20 mins. And I didn’t have to check on it like when I would cook rice on the stovetop. It was a little too wet for my husband’s preference so I’ll have to put a little less water in next time.

I was looking through the instruction booklet and it has recipes for cakes! This thing can bake cakes! Wow!

Hope you all didn’t mind this crazy post of mine going on and on about a rice cooker! LOL

Yea!!!! I ADORE my rice cooker (Aroma brand, from Costco *Grin*) We’re a half Chinese/half Cauc. family, and rice is a STAPLE. I couldn’t live without my rice cooker!! Also, when I’m just pressed for time, and frazzled….I can chop up some meat, marinate it, and throw it on top of the rice when it’s cooking. Instant dinner! Stir in some frozen peas at the end, and you’ve got a one-pot meal. *grin*

LOL, glad I’m not the only one that loves their rice cooker! @Aunt LoLo, same here except I’m the one that’s chinese.
